Message for April 19th

Our pastor has entitled the talk, “Back To The Basics - Foundational Truth for the Christian Life: The Son’s Incarnation and Death ”
God was Himself in Jesus Christ to reconcile people to God. Conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, He joined together the deity of God and the humanity of humankind. Jesus of Nazareth was God in human flesh, truly God and truly human. He came to save us. For us the Son of God suffered, was crucified, dead and buried. He poured out His life as a blameless sacrifice for our sin and transgressions. We gratefully acknowledge that He is our Saviour, the one perfect mediator between God and us. Matthew 1:21; 20:28;26:27-28; Luke 1:35; 19:10; John 1:1,10,14; II Corinthians 5:18-19; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 2:17; 9:14-15.

Church Ministries

What Is Ministry?

Ministry, at its core, is the act of serving others in love, guided by faith and rooted in the teachings of Scripture. It is the embodiment of Jesus’ call to love one another, to care for the needy, and to share the Gospel through both word and deed. In a church context, ministry encompasses the various ways believers use their God-given gifts to build up the body of Christ and extend His love to the world. It is not limited to clergy or church leaders but is a calling for every believer to participate in, whether through teaching, outreach, compassion, or practical service. Ministry reflects the heart of God, meeting spiritual, emotional, and physical needs while pointing others to the hope found in Christ.

Why Does the Church Do Ministry?

The church engages in ministry because it is the hands and feet of Jesus in a broken world. Scripture commands believers to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19) and to love their neighbors as themselves (Mark 12:31). Ministry is the church’s response to this divine mandate, seeking to glorify God by fulfilling His purposes. It strengthens the faith community, fosters spiritual growth, and demonstrates God’s love to those outside the church. By serving others, the church not only meets tangible needs but also shares the transformative message of salvation, inviting others into a relationship with Christ. Ministry is the church’s way of living out its faith, showing the world that God’s love is active and alive.

Various Types of Ministries

A Bible-believing church often offers a variety of ministries to serve its congregation and community:

  • Worship Ministry: Leading the congregation in music, prayer, and praise to honor God.
  • Children’s and Youth Ministry: Teaching young people about faith through age-appropriate lessons, activities, and mentorship.
  • Outreach and Evangelism: Sharing the Gospel through community events, missions, or personal evangelism.
  • Small Groups or Bible Studies: Fostering spiritual growth and fellowship through group discussions and study of Scripture.
  • Mercy or Compassion Ministry: Providing food, clothing, or support to those in need, such as the homeless or families in crisis.
  • Prayer Ministry: Interceding for the church, community, and world through dedicated prayer gatherings.
  • Men’s and Women’s Ministries: Offering fellowship, support, and discipleship opportunities.

These ministries reflect the diverse ways a church seeks to fulfill its mission of loving God and loving others. We encourage you to find multiple places to use your gifts and talents to serve God and others.
