We love to make our church available to our community.

Harrowsmith Free Methodist Church is a church that wants to be here for our community. One of the ways we do that is by making our facilities available for use by individuals and groups. Whether you  are wanting to rent our facilities to celebrate a birthday or special occasion or a community group looking for a place to hold your gatherings – we want to help when possible.

Contact the church office – office@hfmc.ca – to discuss cost, options and availability.

Here are some of the groups that are part of our current community connections.

New Leaf Link takes place from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at HFMC.

NeLL is open to any person 18 years or older with developmental and physical disabilities.

Their programming is tailored to the abilities and interests of our participants. It also draws on the
exciting experiences and talents that our community has to offer. While program themes evolve regularly, program days are organized in three categories.

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

New Leaf Link participants visit local businesses and organizations to learn more about our community. Community guests are invited to our program to share their passions and talents. We plan regular events
such as lunches and art shows with an invitation for friends and family to join us!

ARTS

Talented instructors help us to explore many aspects of the art including drama, puppets, music, printmaking and visual arts. We also explore adaptive technology. Each year we produce and perform an original play for our Open House Events.

HEALTHY LIVING

New Leaf Link participants get active with dance, karate, QiGong, and exercise to develop flexibility and balance. With a fully equipped kitchen, participants learn to prepare healthy foods which they may share
together and recreate at home.

NeLL’s educational programs are uniquely tailored to the participants, their caregivers and their families. At its core, however, NeLL is a friendship project.

NeLL’s mission is to foster an environment for personal growth, connections through friendship and community belonging.

Does this sound like your kind of community? They’d love to hear your story and talk about finding a fit for you and your family. Simply visit their website at www.newleaflink.ca or email them at contactus@newleaflink.ca

Alcoholics Anonymous (or AA) began in 1935 by two men who had one unified goal. They wanted to help alcoholics give up alcohol and empower them to help others do the same. The program is centered around twelve steps, which is often simply referred to as The Twelve Step Program. These steps guide the alcoholic into growing spiritually, becoming aware of the hurt and pain they have caused to themselves as well as to others, and making amends for that pain. As the person progresses through the program, he/she learns the importance of embracing these principles throughout every area of his/her life. In addition, he/she also becomes passionate about and learns the skills to help others as they begin and complete their own journey toward sobriety. AA is built upon the premise of therapy via a support group.

An AA group meets weekly at HFMC on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m. It is a group for people who are AA members or those who have a drinking problem and “have a desire to stop drinking.”
